Medical Disclaimer

DoctorToolsMD provides educational health tools and information. This page explains the important limits of that information.

Not for medical emergencies

DoctorToolsMD is not an emergency service. If you believe you or another person may be experiencing a medical emergency, seek urgent medical assistance through the appropriate local emergency service or healthcare facility.

1. General educational information

DoctorToolsMD provides general educational calculators, planners and informational content relating to topics such as sleep, caffeine, ergonomics, work schedules and other health-related subjects.

The information is intended to improve understanding and help users explore general planning questions.

2. Not individual medical advice

Information provided by DoctorToolsMD is not a substitute for individualized assessment, diagnosis or treatment by an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.

Calculator results should not be used on their own to start, stop or change medications, medical treatments or other important healthcare decisions.

3. No doctor-patient relationship

Dr. Nirosh, MBBS, contributes a medical perspective to DoctorToolsMD content and tool development.

However, using this website does not establish a doctor-patient relationship between Dr. Nirosh and a website visitor.

General information provided publicly on DoctorToolsMD does not represent personalized clinical care.

4. Calculator limitations

Health and wellness calculators simplify complex biological or occupational questions using mathematical models, user-entered measurements or general assumptions.

Results may differ from real-world outcomes because of individual physiology, health conditions, medication use, measurement error, age, pregnancy, genetics, work conditions and other factors.

5. Sleep tools

Sleep calculators and shift-sleep planners provide approximate scheduling information.

They cannot diagnose insomnia, sleep apnea, circadian rhythm disorders, excessive daytime sleepiness or other sleep conditions.

6. Caffeine tools

Caffeine calculations are mathematical estimates based on an assumed half-life.

They do not measure actual caffeine concentration in your blood and cannot predict exactly how caffeine will affect alertness, sleep, heart rate or other physiological responses.

7. Ergonomics and work tools

Ergonomics calculators and work-break planners provide general workstation and scheduling suggestions.

They do not diagnose or treat back pain, neck pain, repetitive strain injuries, nerve conditions, musculoskeletal disorders or occupational injuries.

Workplace safety rules and occupational-health requirements take priority over website recommendations.

8. Driving and safety-critical activities

No DoctorToolsMD calculator can determine whether a person is sufficiently alert or medically fit to drive, operate machinery, perform clinical duties or undertake another safety-critical activity.

Significant fatigue, sleepiness, dizziness or other concerning symptoms should be taken seriously.

9. External medical references

DoctorToolsMD may link to organizations such as government health agencies, medical references and occupational-health organizations.

These links are provided for additional education and do not imply that those organizations endorse DoctorToolsMD.

10. Seek professional assessment when appropriate

Persistent, severe, worsening or concerning symptoms should not be managed solely through an online calculator.

Seek appropriate professional assessment when a health concern requires individualized evaluation.

Our approach to responsible health tools

DoctorToolsMD aims to make assumptions and limitations visible instead of presenting calculator outputs as medically certain answers.
